During an excursion of the Nordic Bryologic Society on Öland I collected Grimmia dissimulata on the Great Alvar. This was the first record of this southern temperate species in Scandinavia. Studies of some material in S brings more records of this species from Öland and also from Gotland; the oldest is a collection from 1908.
